The Toronto District School Board (TDSB) is supporting the use of a new 'connected classroom' digital platform at Sir Adam Beck Junior Public School, comprising a variety of software and hardware technologies.

Dell Canada has launched the platform to help schools better integrate information and communications technology (ICT) into the learning environment. Digital tools for this purpose include 'netbook' and tablet computers, interactive whiteboards, digital cameras and video conferencing.

Teachers can view all connected student workstations simultaneously and capture notes from the whiteboards. Students can access the school network securely from any Internet-enabled device, whether in the classroom or at home.

Following the platform's debut earlier this year in Grade 5 classrooms at Sir Adam Beck, TDSB plans to introduce it to Grade 9 classes at George Harvey Collegiate Institute in the fall.
