The city of Kitchener, Ont., has successfully launched its integrated financial and infrastructure management systems to help improve work order processes.

IDS Scheer implemented the new system, which involves a combination of enterprise resource planning (ERP), infrastructure and inventory management software from several developers, including SAP Canada, ESRI Canada and Riva Modeling.

The city replaced two legacy systems with a financial and asset management model to fully meet the capital asset reporting requirements set by the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants' (CICA's) Public Sector Accounting Board (PSAB) and work with the municipality's existing geographic information system (GIS). Together, the systems will reach all aspects of the city's work order management, including utilities, engineering, finance and public works.
