Portable security device receives FIPS validation

MXI Security's new 64-mm (2.5-in) Outbacker MXP portable data device recently received Federal Information Processing Standard (FIPS) 140-2 level 2 validation.

The Outbacker is designed for government agencies that require mass-capacity secure storage for portable data and fully portable desktops. It is reportedly the first and only hard-disk Universal Serial Bus (USB) portable security device to receive a full product FIPS 140-2 level 2 validation.

The Outbacker features three kinds of authentication (biometric, password and identity credential) for network logins/single sign-on (SSO), remote access and full-disk encryption with total portability. It can accommodate up to five users and offers advanced management capabilities, such as helpdesk functions and life-cycle management software.
